So you’ve been in for your tattoo?

We’ve done our part, so now you fresh new ink is up to you to look after!

Cleaning Routine -

  • Clean daily - AM and PM and once throughout the day.

  • Additional cleaning may be required if activity may have caused possible contamination to the tattoo during the healing stage.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your unhealed tattoo.

  • Rinse your tattoo with luke warm water.

  • Gently apply anti-bacterial soap or an artist recommended aftercare soap to the tattoo.

  • Rinse again with luke warm water.

  • Air dry if possible however if it is not, then pat dry with a clean disposable paper towel.

  • Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare balm over the tattoo.

Advice

  • Take the film wrap off 2-4 hours later, remove sooner if it is causing irritation and refrain from physical activities during this time.

  • Let the tattoo breath as much as possible, wear loose, breathable clothing avoiding loose fibre fabrics.

  • Sleep with no covering over the tattoo and avoid sleeping with pressure on the tattoo.

  • Please note that additional fluid from the tattoo may stain clothing or bedding.

  • Apply SPF once your tattoo has healed to prolong quality.

  • Stay hydrated, resting and load up on carbohydrates for your appointment and during the healing stage.

  • If swelling occurs elevate the tattooed area and use a sterile cool compress to reduce swelling.

Healing times

  • 1-3 weeks depending on tattoo application, skin condition and / or medical history.

  • Mild scabbing, itching, bruising, and / or swelling can be a normal part of the haling process. Don’t panic!

  • Do not pick or scratch any itches on your new tattoo!

  • It is completely normal for the first 24 - 48 hours of the tattoo to secrete some blood and ink stained fluid, this is part of the normal healing process.

Avoid

  • Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, any contaminated waters, or submerging the tattoo in water until it is healed.

  • Avoid sun exposure or hot environments e.g. Sauna or tanning beds etc.

  • Do not touch the tattoo unnecessarily.
